  • You get access to the same great J.Y. Monk content and instructors.
  • Our courses offer opportunities to engage with other students and your instructor.
  • As an added bonus, you can learn anywhere you have internet access!

Crazier Than Fiction: The Sequel uses several different topic areas to review North Carolina License Law and North Carolina Real Estate Commission (NCREC) Rules. Unfortunately, many real estate brokers in North Carolina do not know or do not understand the laws and rules related to activities requiring a license. You may also be unaware of the permitted activities of unlicensed employees, prohibited acts by licensees, conflicts of interest, unworthiness and incompetence, improper dealing, and practicing law without a license.

Unit 1 of this course reviews selected portions of the laws and rules and offers thought-provoking questions to remind you of important aspects impacting your business on a daily basis. Unit 2 offers case studies demonstrating actual situations in which brokers might have failed to comply with the laws or rules in their interactions with other brokers or clients. Learn from these stories and case studies so you avoid making the same mistakes and ultimately protect your clients.

Topics Include:

  • Activities Requiring a License
  • Permitted Activities of Unlicensed Employees
  • Exemptions to Licensure
  • Prohibited Acts by Licensees
  • Conflict of Interest
  • Unworthiness and Incompetence
  • Improper Dealing

Attend live classes from the comfort of your home or office! Live online courses make it more convenient than ever to study for your North Carolina CE requirements.

  • You get access to the same great J.Y. Monk content and instructors.
  • Our courses offer opportunities to engage with other students and your instructor.
  • As an added bonus, you can learn anywhere you have internet access!

Our 2020 elective course is titled “Revitalizing Our Hometowns" (#3311) Infill and redevelopment is heating up, but at what cost? How can North Carolina communities succeed and prosper in the 21st century global economy without losing their individual, treasured sense of identity and unique cultural resources? Urban infill redevelopment is a strategy that is used to repurpose real estate, but what is the cost to individuals, families, and neighborhoods alike for this highly enterprising real estate trend?

As high potential properties get redeveloped, neighborhood streets change dramatically, almost overnight. Values rise but so do the issues and emotions surrounding redevelopment. This course dives headlong into all the sticky issues, including the use of eminent domain and the public taking of private land for private gain as a development strategy. You will leave fully versed in today’s hottest construction trend and the laws in place to protect people and communities, as well as the opportunities available to you and your clients.

Remove all doubt from your real estate practice!

Buying and selling of real estate can be confusing because of the buyer’s and/or seller’s lack of understanding of the process and the unique language that is associated with the real estate industry. It is the agent’s responsibility to ensure that all parties involved in any given transaction have a clear understanding of not only the process but also the definition and meaning of the industry-specific terminology.

There are three terms that seem to generate the most confusion for buyers, sellers, and agents: earnest money deposit, option fee, and due diligence fee. In this course, we will delve deeper into those terms.

This course will dispel confusion by thoroughly exploring the concept of due diligence in North Carolina.
