Frank has been helping people buy and sell real estate in Pitt County for over a decade. Before starting his real estate career, Frank was a teacher in public and private schools from the grade school level through college. Frank earned a master’s degree in education (M.A.Ed.) from East Carolina University. While attending college at ECU, Frank worked in construction, so he understands the home building process from the ground up. As an award winning broker and former owner/partner of one of the area's largest real estate firms, Frank developed tremendous experience and insight into the real estate business. He has served as a member of the Board Of Directors for the Greenville/Pitt Association of Realtors and is currently the broker-in-charge for Home Buyers Marketing, Inc. Frank has a passion for educating others about the ever-changing real estate Industry and has enjoyed teaching licensing and continuing education courses to thousands of students across the state at JY Monk Real Estate School. In 2016, Frank accepted the position of director at the JY Monk Real Estate School. Together with an exceptional team of dedicated instructors, Frank strives to continue delivering the best real estate educational programs available through North Carolina’s premier real estate school.
Sarah is an active broker representing buyers and sellers, and was a broker’s assistant to her husband for 9 years. She has managed rental properties and partnered with a builder in construction of a 12-home subdivision. Sarah served in the United States Navy for 23 years, often holding full- or part-time instructor duties. She earned Master Training Specialist designation and was awarded Instructor of the Year from over 1,000 Navy, Marine Corps, and civilian instructors. Sarah earned her BS in business administration from New Hampshire College. Upon retirement, Sarah became a business education teacher for North Carolina Public Schools, teaching high school for over 11 years. Sarah is a member of the National and North Carolina Associations of REALTORS®, the North Carolina Real Estate Educators Association, and the Fayetteville Regional Association of REALTORS®. She teaches prelicensing, postlicensing, and continuing education courses in Fayetteville and across North Carolina. She is passionate about seeing her students achieve their goals in the field of real estate.
Gary Barker is the broker-in-charge of his own real estate firm. Licensed as a broker since December of 1977, Gary can share a lifetime of experience with his students. His teaching career began in the 1980s, teaching real estate courses at various community colleges. The North Carolina Real Estate Commission awarded him a designation as a certified real estate instructor in 1985. He graduated from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, with a BSCE degree. Gary was formerly licensed as a general contractor and is currently licensed as a professional engineer, auctioneer, and real estate broker. His work experiences include consulting engineer for real estate developers, builders, developers, auctioneers, property managers, business brokers, seller's representative, buyer's broker, and builder's representative. His personal motto is, "If you help others get what they want, you will get what you need."
Cindy was born and raised in NC and majored in communications and public speaking in college. After devoting 14 years to being a full time Mom and raising three boys, she realized her dream of joining the real estate profession in 2005. She received her NC real estate broker’s license and has since worked in every aspect of the real estate industry representing sellers, buyers, investors, and banks by leasing, managing, buying and selling properties in both residential and commercial markets. Cindy’s passion for teaching and coaching began when she participated in Dale Carnegie courses where she became inspired by simple, honest, fun, and effective techniques of instruction. Combined with her teaching abilities and broad knowledge of real estate, Cindy is excited about instructing for the NC Real Estate Commission and helping others succeed in the real estate profession. In her spare time Cindy enjoys fly fishing, hiking, skiing, and spending time with her family and friends.
Angela began working in real estate in January of 2006 and has worked with various firms in order to learn the skills necessary to be a successful agent. She enjoys the field of real estate and is a respected Realtor. Along with her love for real estate Angela has a love for serving others. She is a professional singer and speaker and she has traveled throughout the United States and internationally sharing her testimony through music, seminars, ventriloquism, ladies retreats, rallies, and concerts. She worked in the elementary school system from 2001-2006 and from 2009-2015 she taught real life skills to high school students as the high school presenter for Miller-Motte College. In her younger years she was a professional model, TV personality, extra in numerous movies and also held the titles of “Miss Spivey’s Corner” and “Miss Wilmington” through the Miss America Scholarship program. Due to her love for real estate and her skills in public speaking and teaching, becoming a real estate instructor was a perfect match for her and it has become one of her passions.
Michele graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Mass Communications from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1982 and has worked in some capacity of real estate ever since. Her career began as an office manager in a land sales company where she handled transactions from contract to closing and was responsible for the trust account. Michele worked in both apartment leasing and vacation rentals prior to jumping into sales full time in 1988. During her real estate sales career, Michele served as President of the local chapter of the Women's Council of Realtors, served on the Professional Standards Committee and was named Realtor of the Year. Michele is actively representing buyer and sellers today and is the Broker in Charge for her office. She looks forward to sharing her experience and expertise with her students.
Laurie Ann is an active real estate broker in North Carolina assisting both buyers and sellers in the Wilmington area. After growing up in Eastern, NC and then moving around to different areas of the state, she was drawn back east by her love for the beach and Wilmington’s relaxed, coastal lifestyle. The Cape Fear’s rich history and vibrant culture make Wilmington the ideal place to live. Laurie Ann’s affection for real estate was born out of many years of property management, buying and selling houses and home renovation. Prior to obtaining her real estate license, she graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BS in Business and earned an MBA from Duke University. Professionally, Laurie Ann has worked in the financial services and manufacturing industries where she specialized in marketing communications for 20 years. She decided to apply this knowledge and experience to her real estate business and to teaching Prelicensing, Postlicensing and continuing education across North Carolina. Laurie Ann loves working with people and strives to provide the highest level of personal customer service to her clients and students. She also loves calling the Wilmington area home and enjoys all that it has to offer. She is a member of the Cape Fear REALTORS®.
Dwight is an active broker who works with buyers and sellers, and is also a Broker-in-Charge. He is locally recognized as a real estate expert, often sought out by brokers and BICs for his knowledge regarding a myriad of situations. Dwight owns and manages rental properties and previously partnered with a builder in construction of a 12-home subdivision. He held full or part-time instructor duties through most of his 20-year career in the United States Navy. He earned his BS in Business Administration with New Hampshire College. Dwight was also a Business Education teacher for North Carolina Public Schools where he taught middle school for over eight years. He teaches Prelicensing, Postlicensing, and Continuing Education courses in Fayetteville and across North Carolina individually or as a team with his wife Sarah. He is passionate about helping his students become thriving real estate brokers. He enjoys maintaining his small farm, reading, and traveling. He likes to say he is “just a country boy trying to make a living in North Carolina”.
While working with two of the largest real estate firms in the area, both as an agent and a broker-in-charge, Donna has been training and coaching real estate licensees since the early-80s. Currently, she manages an office in Knightdale, where she actively assists in developing the business career of the agents, while growing the office to respond to an improving real estate market. Donna brings this enthusiasm to the classroom as a real estate instructor. Her real-life experiences allow her to relate to students in prelicensing, postlicensing, and continuing education courses, which she teaches in our Raleigh location. Donna has been an active participant in the REALTOR® organization, serving on both the local and state levels. She has served as president of the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors, was named Realtor of the Year, and continues to serve on the Government Affairs Committee. At NCAR, she has served twice on the Executive Committee, including a number of years as state director. Her professional designations include GRI, CRB, e-Pro, and SFR. In 2012, Donna was named Member of the Year for the Women's Council of Realtors. Donna graduated from North Carolina State University with a BA in speech communications.
Following her career in cable and television broadcasting, Venita transferred into the real estate and insurance arena. After graduating from Shaw University and North Carolina State University, she created Greater Raleigh Real Estate, Inc., and holds the GRI and SFR designations. She is also a life, health, and Medicare insurance consultant. Venita sums up her career path, saying, "I experienced the greatest melting pot of a lifetime as an undergraduate at Old Dominion University. Forty years later, I am now in the midst of an even more diverse society of outrageously creative, knowledgeable, and patient students who don't think twice about helping each other while solidifying their own personal goals. This is one script I could never have written."
Mike A native of Burke County, North Carolina, Mike attended Catawba Valley Community College and received a degree in Information Systems, and Gardner Webb University, where he earned a BS degree in Business Management. Mike worked at Premiere Manufacturing as President/CEO until 1995, when he left to form Cybersource Services, Inc., a diversified sales and marketing firm. Cybersource operated a manufacturing sales division, a mail order business, and a retail outlet in Morganton. In 1998, he formed Premiere Properties/GMAC Real Estate, a full service real estate company in Morganton. He holds many real estate industry professional designations including CRS (Certified Residential Specialist), CRB (Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager), e-PRO (Certified Internet Real Estate Professional), and GRI (Graduate Realtor Institute). He was named Burke County REALTOR of the year in 2001 and 2002. He was voted Burke’s Best Real Estate agent in 2003. He was President of the Burke County MLS in 2001 and 2002. He has been a member of the GMAC/Real Living Multi-million-dollar sales club from 1999-2016. In 2007, he became the Managing Partner of Real Living Carolina Property because of the merger of Premiere Properties/GMAC Real Estate, Walton Realty, and Perry Parham Real Estate. The company has multiple offices and about 50 licensed broker affiliates. Mike has been active in the community having served as Chairman of the Burke County Planning and Zoning Board, 2006 and 2008 Chairman of the Burke County Chamber of Commerce, and currently, serves as Chairman of the Burke Partnership for Economic Development and Chairman of the Burke Committee of 100. In 2016, Mike started as a real estate instructor with JY Monk to share his love and passion for the real estate industry. Mike and his wife, Anne Marie, live in Burke County. He is the proud grandparent of two grandchildren, Chase and Ava. Hiking, boating, spending time with his grandchildren and reading are his favorite leisure activities.
Nathan Zaleski is the founding member of Sterling Law and brings 14 years of legal experience as a practicing real estate attorney. Nathan has an active real estate closing practice and has closed over 2,500 real estate transactions, including residential, commercial, new construction, land development, land acquisitions and out-sales, trustee sales, foreclosures, execution sales, refinances, construction loans, conservation transactions, and others. Nathan currently sits on the Government Affairs Committee of the Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors. As a Committee member, he works on legislative, regulatory and political issues affecting the real estate industry at both the local and state level. He is also licensed by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission as a real estate broker and real estate instructor. He is an instructor at the J.Y. Monk School of Real Estate and enjoys teaching pre-licensing, post-licensing, and continuing education courses to real estate professionals across North Carolina.
